WIPRO donate Rs 1,125 Crore to Fight COVID-19
After Ratan Tatas huge donation of Rs.500 to union government of India to fight with Corona virus, now another corporate bigwig Azim Premji announced huge amount for the same cause. Azim Premji’s philanthropic initiative, Azim Premji Foundation and Wipro – the IT major he founded have decided to donate ₹1,125 crore to fight the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Azim Premji Foundation has donated Rs 1,000 crore while Wipro’s commitment is ₹100 crore, Wipro Enterprises is ₹25 crore.for ground response to contain the COVID-19 outbreak.
“Modern global society has not confronted a crisis of this magnitude and type and all must work together to not only deal with this crisis and minimize its human impact, particularly on the disadvantaged,” said Azim Premji Foundation’s spokesperson in a statement
“Integrated action will be taken for a comprehensive on-the-ground response in specific geographies, focused on immediate humanitarian aid, and augmentation of healthcare capacity, including containing the Covid-19 outbreak and treating those affected by it,” the statement added. The foundation’s 1,600-member team will coordinate with the government institutions in collaboration with the 350 member strong civil society partners to put the funds to good use. Interestingly, the donation is in addition to the annual corporate social responsibility activities of Wipro and the foundation’s regular philanthropy.
