Third phase ration begins in AP
The third phase of ration supply to 1.48 crore cardholders has begun on Wednesday and will go on till May 10, where each cardholder will be given five kg rice and one kg dal through 43,685 ration counters during the lockdown period. As many as 21,46,900 families received their ration supplies on the first day.
The State government has taken the initiative to supply essentials for all the ration card holders thrice in the ongoing lockdown period. So far, two phases of distribution have been completed and the third phase will go up to May 10. In addition to the existing 1,47,24,017 families, nearly 81,862 families who were recently added to the list are also being provided with ration supplies.
In the third phase, the total 32,026.675 metric tonnes of rice and 2,149.940 metric tonnes of dal are going to be distributed across 1.48 crore families. As of today, 4,73,537 families have received their supplies through portability.
Under the guidelines issued by the Centre, the department has made biometric mandatory for the beneficiaries to avail ration. Going by the directions of the State government, ration dealers have taken all the precautionary measures in the distribution of ration by placing sanitizers, handwash, and water at the ration shops. On the basis of time slots and by maintaining physical distance, the ration supplies were provided to the beneficiaries.
