Lokesh, other TDP leaders cry over GITAM issue
The strong action taken by the government over the encroachments of Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) University at Visakhapatnam has created tremors over Telugu Desam. Actually the GITAM college has been possessing around 40 acres of land for the past 20 years but so far no government could take action against on that institute. But the YSRCP government headed by the YS Jaganmohan Reddy has shown its power and demolished the buildings in the encroached lands and as of now, the government has taken 20 acres of land from the college. This action has sent a strong message to the TDP leaders that the government wont spare anybody and it would be a bitter treatment for the encroachers.
The demolitions were undertaken in the wee hours of Saturday. By the time, the sun light come, the entire process was completed and the TDP leaders including Chandrababu, Lokesh and others have started blaming the government for not serving notices before demolishing. TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu strongly condemned the demolitions taken up by the state government at the GITAM University, saying that it was a clear act of retaliation against the political opponents in the State. He said the matter was in court but the demolitions were initiated without waiting for the final verdict. “The destructive attack on a noted educational institution would be a big threat to the future progress and prosperity of the State as a whole,” he said. He also pointed out that the University had provided medical help to 2,500 Corona patients by bearing huge losses. Such a noble educational institution became witness to thoughtless demolitions overnight by over 200 personnel. The one who cannot build has no right to demolish, Naidu stated. Later the general secretary Lokesh also tweeted that the government is giving more priority for demolishing the structures than constructing the new one. This type of governance is definitely a threat to the prosperity . Lokesh reminded that GITAM hospital has extended wonderful services during Covid and provided treatment for thousands of patients. But the government has targeted such a reputed organization is unlawful.’
On the other side, the YSRCP also started slapping back to the TDP. MLA Gudivada Amarnath and minister Avanthi Srinivas have stated that the government wont spare anybody and will get back the lands from the encroachers.
