Jagan to approach SC on Vizag Guest House issue.
In another move the government of Andhrapradesh has decided to knock the doors of supreme court in the issue of Visakhapatnam guest house. The high court of AP has issued status quo on the construction of guest house by the AP government at Visakhapatnam city. As per the information, the YSRCP government is planning to file a special leave petition(SLP) in the supreme court stating that the high court has no provision of intervene in the construction of the state guest house, which is a policy decision taken by the government. “The construction of the guest house is purely an administrative decision and has nothing to do with the shifting of capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam. The HC cannot interfere in the policy decisions of the government,” the government feels.
The Jagan government is learnt to have raised strong objection to the high court’s direction seeking submission of construction plan and the budgetary allocation for the guest house in Visakhapatnam. On the otherside, on Saturday the high accepted one more public interest litigation petition on the construction of guest house at Visakhapatnam, which was filed by G.Tirupathi Rao, the leader of Amaravati Joint Action Committee. In this latest petition, Tirupathi Rao stated that construction of a guest house in the land allocated to the Greyhounds police wing was illegal. He reminded that the previous government had already spent over Rs 1,000 crore for the Greyhound police training wing in the land and if the government constructs a guest house, all this money would go waste.
The government is gearing up to shift the capital to Visakhapatnam as soon as possible but at the same time, various JACs, provoked by the opposition TDP or some other political wings are filing petitions against the government to stall the decentralization of administration.
