Its in the notice of Chief justice - AG replies to advocate
K.V.Venugopal, attorney General of India has clarified that the letter written by the chief minister of Andhra pradesh YS Jaganmohan Reddy with serious allegations on senior judge justice NV Ramana are in the notice of chief justice of India S.A.Bobde. On a reply to the letter written by an advocate Awhwini Kumar Upadhyay appealing the attorney General to consider the letter of the Jagan as contempt of court, the AG said that the letter has already in the purview of the Chief justice, hence he cant take any action on that.
K.K Venugopal denied to give consent for initiation of criminal contempt against Jagan and his principal advisor Ajeya Kallam for making allegations against Justice N V Ramana. In his reply to Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay, the AG said that the matter is under the consideration of CJI Bobde and therefore, it would not be appropriate for him to respond or deal with that issue. “For these reasons, I decline consent to initiate proceedings for criminal contempt of the Supreme Court of India,” AG said.
