Jagan writes PM , seeking appointment to discuss VSP issue.
YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the chief minister of Andhrapradesh has intensified his efforts to protect the Vizag steel plant and trying to convince the union government from disinvestment from the steel factory.
On Tuesday he wrote a letter to prime minister Narendra Modi opposing the disinvestment proposal and seeking his appointment to describe his plans to protect the company from privatization. The chief minister quoted his earlier letter to the Prime Minister on the issue and regretted that his suggestions to revive and strengthen the steel plant were not considered.
He also expressed displeasure over finance minister NirmalaSitaraman's statement on the steel plant. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that people of Andhra Pradesh are sentimentally attached to the steel plant and observed that disinvestment would hurt their sentiments. Jagan Mohan Reddy tried to impress upon the Prime Minister the various measures that he had suggested earlier to make the steel plant profitable and thus restrain from privatising it.
If Modi gives time to discuss the Vizag steel plant issue, Jagan is expected to meet him along with the trade union leaders, MPs and leaders of all parties from Andhrapradesh. It appears that YS Jagan is putting his entire effort and utilizing the sources to protect the steel plant which has an emotional bond with the people of Andhrapradesh.
