2.6 Lakh Clusters for PDS scheme
The Chief minister of Andhrapradesh YS Jaganmohan Reddy is streamlining the government departments in a phased manner and enhancing the performance of the staff to deliver utmost services to the door steps of the public. After streamlining the education, health departments now the civil supplies department to increase its performance for flawless delivery of public distribution system.
As per the instructions given by the chief minister YS Jagan, the civil supplies department is gearing up for putting its entire efforts for better services. As per the this plan
Around 2.60 lakhs of clusters were set up in AP for door delivery of ration. Of the total clusters, 1,93,488 are in rural areas. There are 50 to 75 families under each cluster. Each cluster will be served by one village volunteer. The mapping of ration cards in the state has been about to complete in short time. Door delivery of quality rice through the public distribution system, launched as a pilot project in Srikakulam, has been going on at a good pace. Now the same system would be implemented all over Andhra. Around 13,370 mobile units will be made available by the Department of Civil Supplies for the door-to- delivery of quality rice to 1.49 crores of ration card holders.
