Chiranjeevi's Two Direct Tamil Films - Nostalgia
Chiranjeevi is the Megastar for the Telugu audience. Most of the films Chiru acted are in Telugu and sometimes he ventured into Hindi with films like Pratibandh, Aaj Ka Gundaraj and The Gentleman.
Very few people know that Chiranjeevi acted in Tamil films. He acted in a couple of direct Tamil films and one of them is 'Ranuva Veeran' and the other one is Mappillai.
If we talk about the first film, 'Ranuva Veeran', it was a multistarrer of Chiranjeevi and Rajinikanth. Sridevi was the heroine of the movie. S.P.Muthuraman is the director and the film was released in 1981. It was dubbed into Telugu with the title 'Bandipotu Simham' later in 1982.
'Mappillai' is another film starring Rajinikanth. It was released in 1989. Chiranjeevi played a cameo in the movie. He fights the goons delivering some mass Tamil dialogues in his own voice. It was actually the remake of Chiranjeevi's super hit film 'Attaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu'. Allu Aravind produced the Tamil version under the Geetha Arts banner. It was a blockbuster at the box office.
Well, the direct Kannada film in which Chiru acted was Manjunatha in the role of Lord Shiva.
